You’re going where?

We realized in our latest update that we didn’t communicate the details of our trip well. Here’s the info.
WHO:
- Rob & Elias
WHEN:
- October 19 – November 9, 2019
WHERE:
- Chiang Rai, Thailand (October 19 – Nov 2)
- Neighboring nation in South East Asia (Nov 3-9)
WHAT:
- (Chiang Rai, Thailand) Facilitate an official leadership change in the YWAM Chiang Rai Base. Because of our urgent departure, an interim leadership was put in place until this time. Now I, Rob, will be facilitating the new official leadership designation in the base.
- (Neighboring nation) Teach in a Discipleship Training School on “Walking with God: Fear of the Lord and Intimacy”
WHY:
We were invited to serve in both of these contexts.
The YWAM Chiang Rai Base has specifically requested that I return to facilitate this transfer of leadership because of the history of leading the base for the previous decade. The relational aspect is really important as the leadership changes. It’s an honor for God to create this opportunity for me to be a part of this. It’s something that words cannot express, but it’s really important to our family that we participate.
The teaching opportunity presented itself when one of my former students returned to her country of origin and is helping to pioneer a DTS there. She requested that I be one of the teachers in that school. It’s always a joy to invest in our Christian brothers in the nations and help them take steps into greater knowledge of the God who calls us to walk with Him.
NEEDS:
- $4,000 USD (approx. $5,400 CAD)
This would cover our flights, ground travel and all those little travel expenses that happen along the way.
Note: as often is the case, the Asian church context doesn’t have the financial resources that we have in the West. They have asked if we could make our own way there and then they would cover our accommodation and food. We believe that God wants us to serve in these opportunities and we are trusting Him to provide for this journey. Can you please partner with us to see His provision come through?

- Prayer:
The leadership transition in Chiang Rai is filled with a lot of emotions and deep relationships. It’s going to be a good time, but there are also a lot of dynamics involved with change, especially leadership change. We ask for prayer as the facilitation process can go well and that the Holy Spirit would fill the time with love, wisdom and humility.
The teaching time is about focusing on God, so please pray that the Holy Spirit guides that week and that we all leave that time filled by experiencing God Himself.
