Walking as He leads
Greetings!
We have seen over the years that God has truly led us like a shepherd leads his sheep. Sometimes we hear his voice and follow. Sometimes he gently leads us with his staff silently. Either way, God gets us where He wants us so that He can bless us and use us to bless others. We’ve experienced both of these outcomes over the past weeks.
We as a family have been having a wonderful time in Thailand recently. Elias was going to a Thai Christian Pre-school. He enjoyed spending a few hours a day playing with other kids. His comprehension of the Thai language has increased, which is very good for him over the long-term of life in Thailand. Cy has been very busy preparing and teaching in different schools over the past few weeks. Rob has been leading the base into the transitions that come along with growth, helping new leaders to understand their roles and take leadership in them. He was also teaching.
The School of Biblical Studies (SBS), which is now under the new leadership, has started off well. Cy was teaching in their first weeks. She taught using the Inductive Bible Study method as she took the students through the gospel of Mark. It’s great to see that the school is running well and that we are still a part of it in different ways.
From February 17th until March 5th we were in Phuket, Thailand. One of our past staff left our base to go a plant a new Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Southern Thailand. Until she went there was no DTS there in the past. As a support we have traveled down there each of the past couple of years to teach in that school. This time we did a two week combo of Cy teaching one week on Bible Overview and the Gospel. The following week Rob taught Spiritual Warfare. Those two weeks were a wonderful blessing for us and the students/staff. Afterwards we spent a few days as a family before returning to the busy-ness of Chiang Rai.
We’re in our last month before we go to Hawaii to help with the Bible Research project that we mentioned in our last update. We’ve applied for the visa to the US for Cy and on Wednesday she will have an interview at the Consulate in Chiang Mai. Please pray that she can get the visa. It’s not always easy for Venezuelans, especially in this moment, to get visas to the US.
So, we have worked out everything in Hawaii, we’ve applied for the visa to the US and we’re almost ready. The one thing that we are lacking as of right now is the money to get there. The cheapest cost of flying our family there (with return tickets) is $3,700USD (not Canadian dollars). We’re trusting in God for His provision like we do with everything else. However, we really want to ask for prayer because we are coming close to the deadline for buying tickets. Our health had been down this past month, but we’re recovering now. Elias had pneumonia and was in the hospital for a few nights. He’s fine now…we just checked in with the doctor this morning. Rob was also heading down the same path, but was spared any hospitalization. Cy remains the strong one in the family, though she’s really tired from all the teaching and preparing…and taking care of a sick family.

3. WISDOM: We’re in our last month. We’re preparing everything for others to take leadership of during the months that we are going to be gone. We want the wisdom, not from man, but from God, to be able to leave things with the least chance of problems while gone. We also ask for wisdom for the new leaders in new responsibilities to know what to do and how to do it.
4. GOD’S PRESENCE: No matter where we are or who we are with, we want to have the presence of God leading us and using us for His purposes.
