October 2012

Greetings!

On October 2nd Elias turned two years old. Our miracle son keeps growing strong and continues to impress his parents and others by learning 3 languages at once (Spanish, English & Thai). He’s a happy boy and he’s doing well. Thanks for your prayers over his life.

Cy decorated the cakes herself. What a great gift for Elias!
Almost everyone on the YWAM base, plus a few extras came to celebrate Elias’ 2nd Birthday.

September and October have been full, yet wonderful months. We’ve been busy teaching almost every week in both the Discipleship Training School (DTS) as well as the School of Biblical Studies (SBS). It’s been challenging, yet fun to be able to teach so much. Oh, and Rob was one of the speakers in a local youth group conference.

Rob praying for young people who want to experience more of God in their lives.

The base has recently been doing some great weekly outreaches to the University where we help out a local YWAM university ministry share the gospel with the students of Mae Fah Luang University. We’ve also been teaching English (and Jesus stories) in a local elementary school just down the road from us. And lastly, we’ve been serving a local church with their evangelism in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Teaching in the DTS.

Our fundraising efforts for our trip to Vietnam have been fairly fruitful. As a team we raised almost $4,000. Our personal fundraising is almost complete. We still need to see just $300 more to cover the rest of the expenses for our family. If you believe God is leading you to give for the last part of our need, please click here.

We’ve been finalizing the vision of the base. The training side of the vision has been completed. You can watch a short video explanation of the base vision by clicking here.

Our health has been going through some rough patches lately. We’ve all had the flu at least once over the past two months. Elias and Cy are currently down with the flu. We thought that it was swine flu, but apparently the tests came back negative. Please pray for all of us as we battle through this. We’d like it to be gone before our outreach to Vietnam (which starts November 4th).

We have some GREAT news. The SBS has been very fruitful this year. All 4 students will be coming back to the base as staff within the next year. Also, two current staff are being trained up to lead the SBS. One staff will be getting ready to plant a new SBS in Vietnam (which doesn’t have that school yet). The other staff will be getting ready to take over the leadership of the SBS here in Chiang Rai. It’s our long-term goal coming to fruition. We originally came to plant the school here and pass on the leadership to the next generation. It’s becoming reality before our eyes, which is a major answer to prayer.

Prayer requests:

  • Health – see above
  • Finances – 1. we’re still looking to get our monthly support raised      2. We need a new vehicle before our current one dies     3. we’re praying for the rest of the Outreach funds to come in. Please click here if you are interested in supporting us financially.
  • Anointing – We really want to walk in the Spirit as we go to Vietnam. It’s a place that cries out for the word of God. However, we don’t want to bring a lot of knowledge, but we want the Holy Spirit to bring revelation and fruit through our teaching.
  • New Leadership – please pray for the transition of raising up and releasing new leadership in the SBS. We’ve never taken this step before, so we’re heavily leaning on God to give us wisdom and grace.
  • Building Project – We’re still waiting on God for finances to continue with construction on the family housing unit. We’re experiencing an increase in families on the base (which is an answer to prayer), but we’re struggling with getting the finances to finish the housing unit for one family. If you’d like to be a part of this project through giving, please click here.

With much love,

Rob, Cy and Elias
